Welcome to Skin Love Botanicals where I offer artisan botanical skincare. I practiced in the field of esthetics (skin care) for over 30 years as a technician, educator, lecturer and author. Now I put together that knowledge with my love of formulating.
I started with making lovely gentle cleansing bars then moved into lotion bars, butters and skin oils. As the summer dryness in Oregon started making my skin feel parched, I made a wonderful light hydrating serum that I’m excited to share and it’s being followed by delightful creams and protective winter moisturizers.
It is my goal to help you show your skin some love and it will reward you by looking and feeling its youngest. We will use the power of plants as opposed to harsh chemicals to defy age. I’ve tried some of those and my skin just got dryer and more irritated.
However, if we use the whole plant instead of just isolates of its components, we get the power of the plant’s immune system – what keeps it alive, strong and beautiful, to help our skin.
Think of it this way. When we choose our foods, we don’t choose isolates in a tube. We use all the best edibles in the plant or protein. We don’t pop a vitamin capsule, we eat the whole food. Much tastier that way and more healthy, I think.
Instead of harsh chemical exfoliants, we can use plants like buriti oil, bakuchi oil or papaya. They gently brighten and smooth.
Plants have been used for millennia to make people feel better and care for themselves. Lavender, calendula and chamomile for calming, soothing and promoting healthier skin. Mother Nature didn’t do it wrong. We can find lots of gentle, natural and planet friendly alternatives to what is often sold on the market.

Below is a hydrating gel that contains skin enhancing oils. An oily gel. Feels great and last all day. This could be great winter protection for your skin. Key ingredients include skin loving Sweet Almond Oil, age delaying Buriti Oil and Baruchi Oil and Vitamin E with a hint of Sweet Orange essential oil for its uplifting scent.
I love this bi-phase cleanser. It’s so pretty sitting in my bathroom. Standing the two phases separate and it’s very eyecatching. Give it a quick shake and it’s ready to use as your daily facial cleanser. Removes makeup beautifully and gently. No drying suds here, just gentle cleansing.
Sweet Orange Age Delay Butter
Body butters are AWESOME. These come in little tins that can be repurposed over and over. Great for travel!!! Handy in the bathroom. They come in 1,2 and 4oz tins. Perfect stocking stuffers! These are a blend of Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter, Mango Butter, Sweet Almond Oil and some powerful skin enhancing botanicals including Rosehip CO2 Oil, Sea Buckthorn CO2 Oil, Buriti Oil and Vitamin E. They are solid in the container. Use the little applicator to scrape some onto your hand. The warmth of your hands immediately softens the butter for easy application to those perpetually dry places.
The diversity of one-of-a-kind soaps. Each swirled soap is poured separately creating unique patterns and designs. They make a great, useful gift. I also create small guests soaps which can make a nice stocking stuffer. You will also find hearts in burgundy and white and mauvy lavender and cream.
Oatmeal based SandDollar exfoliating bars are one of my most popular items. Great in the shower or bath. The gentle exfoliation from the oats and walnut powder makes shaving your legs a delight instead of a chore.
Like a more dramatic look than pink and white, check out the black and white hearts or the teal and cream ones. I used the sanddollar mold for the teal and cream but they are cleansing bars without the oats or walnut powder.
